INPRO SEAL
Smart Shaft Grounding
Increase bearing reliability with Smart  Technology

VFD – Motor controllers induce high frequency voltages on the shaft that seek a path to ground. When these voltages exceed the lubricant’s ability to provide insulation, they discharge the motor’s bearings or through the motor’s bearings of coupled equipment resulting in Electrical Discharge Machining:

  • ·causing fusion craters on the shaft
  •  pitting and frosting and fluting on bearings
  •  premature bearing failure in VFD driven motors

Even if a motor has insulated bearings, shaft currents can travel to the coupled equipment such as pumps, pillow blocks, and gear boxes and damage those bearings.  The results are often costly: reduced equipment reliability, increased maintenance costs, unscheduled downtime and in turn lost revenue.

REDUCING ELECTRICAL DAMAGE - While specifically designed bearings, grease, carbon brushes, filter, and grounding rings have been introduced to migrate shaft currents, each has significant limitations.

SMART
SHAFT GROUNDING - from INPRO/SEAL addresses the limitation of these other technologies to effectively divert harmful shaft currents and increase bearing and equipment reliability. Inpro/Seal offers the most reliable method for diverting stray currents to ground.

APPLICATION: Power Generation, Boiler Feed Pumps, Fans, Motors, Steam Turbines, pillow boxes, gear boxes, HVAC including VFD driven motors, air handling units, chiller fans and pumps, fans, and cooler tower pump/pumps
